Position Paper Details and Policy

QMUN Position Papers (Deadline: July 20th, 2024)

Structure and Significance:

Your position paper is divided into three sections, each illuminating your country's stance:

• National Interests: These are your country's ultimate aspirations regarding the issue at hand. Think of them as long-term goals your nation strives for on the global stage (e.g., environmental sustainability, global economic stability, etc.). National interests are generally non-negotiable.

• National Policies: Here, you'll showcase the concrete actions your country has taken or plans to implement to achieve its national interests. This demonstrates your nation's commitment to addressing the issue (e.g., enacting relevant legislation, participating in international agreements, etc.). National policies are open to discussion and potential negotiation with other countries.

• Perspective on Potential Solutions: This section delves into the proposed solutions and questions outlined in the QMUN Background Guide. Analyze each solution critically, considering how it aligns with your country's national interests and policies. Here, you can express your support, propose modifications, or raise concerns, ensuring your country's voice is heard.

Submission Deadline and Extensions:

To ensure a smooth flow of debate preparation, all position papers must be submitted electronically by July 30th, 2024. Papers should be sent directly to the Chair's email address, which will be provided on the specific committee page of the QMUN website.

Extension Requests:

Extensions for position paper submissions may be requested directly from the Chair by contacting them via email. Please note that extensions are granted at the Chair's discretion and may not be available in all cases. We encourage delegates to submit their papers well in advance of the deadline to avoid any potential complications.
